While the calendar has now turned to fall, it never hurts to be reminded of the joys of summer. June 21st is technically the first day of the season, but for many people, July 1st marks its unofficial kickoff. The thermometer is rising, the kids are out of school, Independence Day is right around the corner, and ice cream has assumed its spot as a primary food group. But for one 56-year-old former professional baseball player who has been out of the game for nearly 20 years, July 1st is something else altogether. It’s payday.
